New Software Launch Price Trend for 2017
This Muncheye guest post is from Tom Murray, a Munchie vendor with many strong launches behind him!
Tom’s latest launch, Wishloop, is going down on December 19th. Tom asserts that this will be the last really big launch of 2016.

The internet marketing launch scene has seen some significant shifts this year. As the JVzoo software market matures, both vendors and customers have upped their game.
In 2014 and through 2015 plugins and simple software being sold at a low price became very popular for vendors and buyers. Buyers got a seemingly great deal, while vendors made some quick cash and grew their buyers list.
However, this was a flawed system, and many buyers got burned as vendors could not afford to support their products sold for a low one time fee.
As a result buyers have become more knowledgeable and savvy, and they’re able to see through many of the short term tactics of less reputable vendors. And vendors have responded by improving the quality of their products. Cheap, single-purpose WP plugins with no future updates are gradually being replaced by powerful multi-functional SaaS platforms…
Through 2015 and most of 2016 most vendors priced their SaaS products at the same price as WP plugins – offering lifetime deals for $27. But this is not sustainable. It’s a false economy. The ongoing cost to maintain the plugin often exceeds the low one time price, leaving many such plugins poorly supported.
Building and maintaining software costs money for as long as it exits. A lot of buyers have been burnt by their “lifetime” licenses disappearing overnight when the vendor chose no longer to support a product.
Through 2016 a large chunk of the market has realized what is going on. Buyers are willing to pay more, if they feel they’re getting more value, and a product that will last. As a result, we’re seeing 2 key trends:
- Mid-ticket price-points (i.e., $197 – $297 on the FE)
- Recurring price models (at some point in the funnel)
The biggest, most profitable launches on JVZoo this year have all had one or both of these elements.
And another one is kicking off:
